Calling all Junior Astronomers and Space Enthusiasts! Come join us at OM Dark Sky Park & Observatory for a tour through outer space. This event is designed for primary school age, but all ages are welcome.

Meteor Shower Magic 🌠

Look up, because the night sky is putting on a spectacular show! At this month’s Junior AstronOMy Club, we’ll explore the fascinating world of meteor showers and discover what causes these dazzling streaks of light across our skies. We’ll take a closer look at two of the year’s exciting showers—the Orionids, peaking around 21 October, and the spectacular Geminids, reaching their peak around 14 December.

Then to top it off, we will be creating our own meteor shower experiment!

Why do our clocks change, and what does that have to do with the Sun? At this month’s Junior AstronOMy Club, we’re turning our attention to the dark and discovering the fascinating science behind our changing days and nights. We’ll explore the night sky, uncover why darkness is so important for stargazing, and discover what happens when the Sun goes down. From changing seasons to sparkling stars, there’s much more to darkness than meets the eye.

And why does the Sun seem to disappear so quickly during winter? At this month’s Junior AstronOMy Club, we’ll explore the fascinating science behind the winter solstice and discover why it marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. We’ll uncover how Earth’s tilt and its journey around the Sun create our changing seasons, explore what happens in the sky during the solstice, and discover why this special time of year has fascinated people for thousands of years. Get ready for some seasonal science and a little bit of winter wonder!
