April- Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark!
OM is hosting a special Junior AstronOMy Club in collaboration with DarkSky International Week 2026! Little adventurers who want to explore the night but are nervous about what is out there, this daytime talk is the perfect first step. Our friendly staff will help them plan how to be safe at night, what to find in the night sky and which animals to look out for after the Sun goes down. This event is a fun, interactive talk with the goal to help make children feel more confident about dealing with the dark.
Children’s telescopes will be available for them to observe the Moon if the sky is clear during the event. We will also be making a special “star light” for them to take home.
This event is designed for primary school ages but all ages are welcome. This event is during daylight and will be indoors.
This event takes place in collaboration with DarkSky International Week, running from 13-20 April. DarkSky International Week is a worldwide event that draws attention to light pollution, promotes simple solutions to mitigate the issue, and celebrates the irreplaceable beauty of a natural night.
